Johnson County Library provides the residents of Leawood. The Pioneer Library branch is located in Leawood. The development and expansion of the library required 12 months and it was completely renovated in October of 2009.
For years, Leawood upheld an outlaw on fast food establishments within the city limits. In the late 1990's the ordinances banning gas stations and fast food restaurants have been rescinded. Leawood also offers a wide spread of Mexican restaurants.
United Methodist Church of the Resurrection lies in Leawood. The church is the largest in the Kansas City Metro Area and the largest Methodists church in the country with 17,000 members. the city has a prominent Jewish population.
